Mindfulness technique is simply any way of practicing mindfulness that you will choose. There are many ways of practicing mindfulness but the goal is one – to be fully present in the moment.
Mindfulness in reality is practicing being fully present in the moment. The goal is to just be here and now and enjoying being. It maybe sounds simple but it is actually not that simple.
Majority of the people in this world live in a state of a constant, compulsive thinking. What is mindfulness technique is simply a tool that allows you to stop thinking for a certain moment, be present and truly alive.
Mindfulness Techniques
There are a few mindfulness that help you to be present in the moment. You don’t have to use all of them, one is enough to achieve the goal – to be present and stop thinking.
Mindfulness is not a knowledge mindfulness is a practice. The techniques of mindfulness are the ways of practice.
If you would like to start practicing mindfulness I encourage you to read our article where we explain how to do it in a way that will allow you to see results from the day 1: What is Mindfulness Practice
Most of the mindfulness techniques are based on your senses as your senses are a connector between your body and the surrounding world. If you will come to your senses – you will be rooted in the presence.
By focusing on your senses you will simply divert attention from your mind to the present moment. You will stop thinking as you will quiet your mind by focusing on something else.
There are few gateways/portals/techniques how to become fully present. These are:
- Feeling Your Own Hands
- Feeling Your Body
- Focusing On Your Breath
- Looking For A Silence Among The Sounds
- Surrendering to The Now Through Acceptance
All these gateways need practice and I strongly encourage you to do this practice as mindfulness can bring great benefits into your life. If you want to read more about the benefits of mindfulness head down to this article: What Is Mindfulness For

The Observer is also based on the teachings of Eckhart Tolle. It uses few combined mindfulness techniques to enter the present moment and stay in the present moment.
In order to enter the present moment and be fully present in the NOW you have to root yourself somehow into the presence. The most successful tools are the portals within your body. Your body itself is an anchor that can root you into the present moment. It is not enough though just to think so and acknowledge that, you have to shift your focus from thinking to feeling your body. You have to stop thinking. Focusing on your body or any anchor that is within your body will move you into the presence.
You can start from taking a few conscious breaths – in and out.
Then try to feel your hands. Try to feel their energy.
If you will succeed doing it then try to feel your whole body. Try to scan your body from the top to the bottom.
Try to feel the energy in different parts of your body and in your body as a whole.
One of these portals should help you to enter the present moment. You don’t have to use all of these portals. One is enough. Try all of them and with time you will see which one of them works best for you.
Feeling the glimpses of the present moment and staying present even for a brief moment is already a great achievement.
In order to stay in the present moment for a longer time however, you have to practice a lot. Don’t worry – it will be a very pleasant practice.
There is one technique that will help you to stay in the present moment longer.
Being present is a state when you are not thinking. When your mind will take you over and you will get back to the stream of compulsive thinking you will be no longer present.
You have to keep your mind quiet in a state of no thinking.
This sounds simple and it seems easy to do but in reality it is not. Your mind is a very noisy machine. There is a constant voice talking. Just by realizing that this voice is not you and you are a far greater than your mind, is an act of awakening. This is a huge realization and there is nothing more needed to enlightenment. The moment you will realize the above you will see that you don’t need anything else to awaken – you already have everything within yourself.
The technique to stay present for a longer time is to observe your mind and wait for your next thought.
When you will already enter the present moment using any of the described above techniques then try to stay in it longer by observing your mind.
Wait for your next thought.
Observe your mind like a rabbit hole.
Wait for the next thought to appear.
If it comes – just let it go.
Wait for your next thought.
Perfect way to do is exercise is during a walk. Then it will be more simple for you to feel your body perceptions and stay rooted in the present moment.
If you are here then it is a sign for you to try it NOW.
We have made it simple for you and we have put together all the necessary steps in our online game.
Go now and practice to be THE OBSERVER.
Thanks so much for this great article. I found out about mindfulness back in 2011 or 2012 and it really changed my life. I did a lot of guided meditations and I listen to stuff about mindfulness. Lately I feel pretty scattered because I am starting an online business and there are a lot of income activities to do. Sometimes it is hard for me to stop and just be still.
I am trying to practice mindfulness over the fact that I am less mindful now LOL.
I clicked on your shop and I love the idea of watches that actually just say the word now instead of telling you the time. It is funny in a way because it is always now and that makes things a lot simpler. Thank you for sharing that creative idea. I remember that my friend’s birthday party that was one of the gifts she got and I could tell she really enjoyed it.
Thank you Charles for taking the time to share your experience. I love listening to these type of stories. It only shows that mindfulness can change your life 180 degrees. You are basically receiving a new life after awakening from the boundaries of your mind.
This mindfulness technique goes with the saying ” live your life in the moment”. It cool to see that true some simple steps, one can actually do away with all the thoughs. I was practically practicing those techniques. I think I need to try them out in a better environment. I need that game, the observer. I’m sure it’ll definitely help me. I’ll go check it out on playstore. And for your post, it’s worth sharing so yes I’ll do that. Thank you

I haven’t really thought about mindfulness before now, reading this, I got to understand it helps in teaching awareness for one’s physical and mental state in the moment, and also allows for more adaptive reactions to difficult situations. that means through a number of ways it does encourage us to open up and accept our emotions. Giving this a try is 100 % certain by me as this will be my first time and I guess it will do more good than hurt.
Looks like the time for you is NOW 🙂
I’m glad that you have read this article, it might be a milestone for you. People who discovered NOW never look back, literally 🙂
